Check out this pic:

What's going on there? See those circles?

(ps) when I was reading through DB's old stuff, I couldn't use the links to the pictures he would post, as someone went and changed them. Does anyone have any of those saved? The elemental pics?

For some reason that space in the [/img] tag keeps happening, even though I'm posting without it there.

Anyways... the link is there, check that out.

hi,

erm... supposidely they're taking the Body of Christ, that's what Communion should be about (I was raised a catholic)... the priest has his purple robes so this must be Easter... I don't know but I feel the lights are introduced there, not from the picture itself. I could be wrong though, part of all my skepticism towards Catholicism...

Confused I'm counting the circles as lights as well, sorry but it looks like it's all been super imposed.
Then again I could very much be wrong... cameras are known distorters of reality themselves, specially when it comes to light.

OG, why's this pic so special right now? I'm curious

It's not really that important.. I just found it interesting I guess. It does look fake in a way... why fake some generic pic like that though? My initial impression there was nothing 'etheric' going on so much as just some cool screenshot.

Hmmm: I donít know how the three-dimensional technology of this camera could capture etheric events as expressed by those vertical series of horizontally stretched-out, oval formations arising from the shiny, brightly-lit chalice held by that priest in the purple robe. It looks fake to me, IMO.

What is it faking though? That's sort of what i'm getting at. I just want to know... what is -suppsed- to be going on here, if anything can be discerned from this out of context pic.

ok... this is supposed to be the Body Of Christ they are taking... very simply they are taking in "sacred food" in a sacred act. The shining chalice and the "uprising" rings of light... these "strange" details could be very easily considered God's visually manifesting on the cerimony.

When you have a picture like this and show it to an older catholic believer, someone who is full of faith, they'll probably get very touched by it for they'll see it as a visual confirmation of God's Power and Light - a miracle.

I personally find it hard to associate God with religious cerimonies and priests in robes, but that's me.

Hope that shed some light into the matter Wink

Hi Mr. Old_Gobbo:

Here is my simple explanation: The reason for faking this first photo is to offer faithful followers a focal point of reverence in their minds. In this case, the rays of lights emanating from the chalice, along with the priest in his purple robe (authority figure) and the oval formations rising above the chalice (halos depicting holiness) are added for spiritual effects, basically.

I see nothing more than another attempt by Catholicism to promote the worship of Ra (the ancient Egyptian sun god) or the Son of God by the communion (or ingestion) of the Eucharist (a flat piece of Ďbreadí in the shape of a circle, like the sun). There is, however, a similarity of concentric circles between the photos of the sun taken by DB and the second photo below. I also see a large orb in the middle of the second photo.

Once again, discerning what is real or not is left to each personís observations. I rescind my original opinion about the first photo. Maybe the photos are not fake after all. Itís hard to say, really. Aaahhh!

We don't know that anything is actually being "faked" as in a deliberate deception. Perhaps someone just took a picture of these things and thought "ahhh, it would be nice and uplifting with rays coming out of it"...in that case it's just art. If we were to call that faked then I guess you could call most anything faked. Ever see the pictures of Stonehenge, for example? I've been there and I can guarantee you, it's not nearly as grand looking in person as it is in the pictures.

Now, regarding the symbology of the picture. As was mentioned, the Catholics believe the host becomes the actual body and blood of Jesus, whereas most other Christian religions believe the host is symbolic. Either way, it is supposed to represent a sacred union between God and man. Nothing so radical about that...isn't that what the aim of all religious or spiritual paths is meant to be after all.

Personally I don't see how a round eucharist is promoting the worship of Ra. Because it's round? I'm not Christian myself, though I was until my mid 30s, but I don't understand this hostility towards the Catholics. Many paths to the same destination. Frankly, I don't care if someone wants to worship Bubba the dog so long as he doesn't try to force me to. lol

I think religious ceremonies/rituals have their place in spiritual practice for those who chose to use them. Ritual helps set the mood and get our minds in a particular place, it can be very effective. Also, whether we realize it or not most of us have rituals we do every day, even if they are secular. They are still routines we use to prepare us for certain daily events and they have meaning to us or are important to us in some way.

One last comment...as to the priest's robes...wearing special garments for religious or spiritual practice is not limited to the Catholics. Many people in the Pagan community wear robes, the Buddhist monks wear them as well and I'm sure we could think of more if we put our minds to it Smile

There is a bumper sticker I saw at a new age supply shop one time. It said "Freedom Of Religion Means Any Religion"....this does not only apply to the Pagans, but any religion, or the right to practice no religion whatsoever. People should be free to exercise their spirituality in whatever way they chose so long as it does not harm anyone who is not a willing and able minded participant.

Be excellent to each other...and party on dudes.
